MCC Outreach - Ongoing Opportunities

Lighthouse Hospice

Mission:
Hospice is not a "place" but a concept of care for end-of-life. Lighthouse Hospice provides physical, emotional and spiritual care for patients and their families. Hospice enhances the quality of life for each patient and their family. We provide care in the comfort and privacy of the patient’s home.
Volunteer Duties:
Volunteers serve in a variety of ways: helping with events in nursing homes, personal visits to patients/families on service, and even general office work.
Volunteer Requirements:
Pass a background check, and complete a thorough application process and training.
Training:
Thorough personal training and on-going support.
Time Commitment:
Flexible, depending on volunteer's availability. Some volunteers visit patients weekly, some a few times a month.
Group Volunteering:
Unavailable, individual applications only.
Recommended For:
Those in the fields of Nursing and Pre-Med, as well as anyone who enjoys working with people.
Benefits:
Volunteers have an opportunity to learn about hospice services, work with nurses, social workers, and the chaplain. Volunteers also feel the satisfaction that comes from helping patients and families in their time of need.
